Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Will Reportedly Run at Upscaled 4K on PS5 - PlayStation LifeStyle

Ubisoft has reportedly told DualShockers that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will run at upscaled 4K/60 frames-per-second on the PlayStation 5.

The publisher recently penned a lengthy blog, detailing the next-gen versions of its upcoming titles. Curiously, the blog mentioned resolutions of 4K/60 fps for the Xbox Series X and 4K “and” 60 fps for the PS5. The latter resulted in people assuming that games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will not be able to support 4K “at” 60 fps on Sony’s console. As speculations made rounds online, Ubisoft updated parts of its blog but confusion still remained.

As of this writing, here’s what we know about the PS5 versions:

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will support 4K at 60 fps
  • Immortals Fenyx Rising will support 4K and 60 fps
  • Far Cry 6 will support 4K at 60 fps
  • Riders Republic will support 4K at 60 fps
  • Rainbow Six Siege will support 4K at 120 fps
  • For Honor will support 4K. Ubisoft’s blog doesn’t clarify if that’ll be at 60 fps or not. However, it does mention that 60 fps will be available for both next-gen consoles

As far as “upscaled” 4K is concerned, we’re only hearing this via a PR representative that DualShockers reached out to. It’s unclear if this applies to both consoles or if Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will offer native 4K on the Xbox Series X.

Ubisoft’s PR and communication has been quite a mess lately but we’ll update our readers when we have more information. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will launch on November 10th and 12th so we’ll find out in due course what the PS5 version offers.

Here's how stores are changing Black Friday for the pandemic - CNN

The shopping spectacular is getting a pandemic-induced makeover, with many major retailers starting their sales earlier than ever and ending them later. Companies are hoping to avoid the crush of customers that crowd stores on the Friday after Thanksgiving by giving them more buying, pickup and delivery options.
This year, the Black Friday deals that are usually reserved for in-store shopping will appear online during the month. Nearly 51% of shoppers feel anxious about shopping in-store during the holidays and 64% of their budget is expected to be spent online, according to a new shopping survey from Deloitte.
"Black Friday has definitely transitioned more into a digital affair in the past five years," said Neil Saunders, retail analyst and managing director at GlobalData Retail, previously told CNN Business. "The focal point is not that single day anymore. It's an event spread out over several days."
And those who are brave (or crazy) enough to hit the stores on Black Friday will notice enhanced safety protocols and capacity controls.
Here's how major US retailers changed their Black Friday plans this year:
"As we've said, Black Friday isn't just one day this year — it's months long," Best Buy said in a statement.
That's true: Some Best Buy deals became available online in October with more deals going live in stores on November 1. On select days, Best Buy (BBY) shoppers can get deeper discounts from its Black Friday ad early via its website, with the first event beginning November 5.
Stores will open at 5 am on Black Friday with the retailer still requiring shoppers to wear face coverings. It's also enforcing capacity controls and there will be a "dedicated customer experience host" to help direct shoppers and answer questions.
Contactless curbside pickup and expanded same-day delivery will also be available.

Home Depot

Home Depot will offer discounts online and in stores from November 6 through December 2.
The retailer recently said it decided to "reinvent" Black Friday this year to reduce stress for consumers who typically rush to stores in droves to grab the best deals. Given the pandemic, the company indicated that maintaining safety was also a factor in its decision.
Home Depot (HD) gave its app users advance access earlier this week to some of the discounts.
Loyal customers will see an expanded selection of items, with the company selling more home goods, exercise equipment and other items people wouldn't normally associate with the home improvement retailer.
Lowe's (LOW) "Season of Savings" already began last week — its earliest start date ever. The Black Friday-like event includes "competitive deals in-store and online" through December.
One notable addition this year: Free delivery of fresh-cut trees and wreaths on orders more than $45.
Black Friday sales at the department store will begin online and in stores beginning November 4.
On the day after Thanksgiving itself, Macy's said shoppers can "expect to shop those same deals safely in-store" with additional cleaning, employees wearing personal protection equipment and "occupancy checks with an emphasis on traffic flow to anticipate and mitigate crowds."
Macy's (M) is also promoting curbside pickup, buy-online-pick-up in store and same-day delivery through DoorDash.
Deals will be sold online and in stores for the entire month of November in a promotion called "Black Friday Now." Target will offer "weeklong discounts and digital deals every day" beginning on November 1. It's also extending its price-match policy from two weeks after the purchase date to two months.
Target (TGT) is also bolstering its safety features at its stores — including contactless payment in its app, reducing lines by having employees rove the store to let customers pay and letting shoppers make reservations.
America's largest retailer is spreading Black Friday sales over three weekends, which will begin on its website before hitting stores a few days later. "Black Friday Deals for Days" encompasses the first, second and fourth weekends of November, with the deals appearing online Wednesdays.
Although it's pushing people to shop online and use its curbside pickup option, shoppers that go to its stores won't experience the pandemonium of the past. Instead, they will form single-file lines at the entrance and be given sanitized shopping carts. "Health Ambassadors" will be stationed at entrances to remind people to put on their masks. Social distancing will be enforced inside with capacity controls and one-way lanes.
Walmart (WMT) said the changes at its stores "will be safer and more manageable for both our customers and our associates."

‘The Untouchables’ Stars Kevin Costner & Robert De Niro Remember “Man’s Man” Sean Connery - Deadline

Sean Connery, most known as the first 007 in the James Bond film series, died Saturday morning in the Bahamas. As news made its way through Hollywood, a number of tributes poured in from industry figures, fans and co-stars. Among those sharing their condolences and memories of the Oscar-winning actor were his The Untouchable co-stars Kevin Costner and Robert De Niro.

“I’m very sorry to hear about Sean’s passing,” De Niro said in a statement. “He seemed much younger than 90; I expected – and hoped– he’d be with us much longer. See you up there, Sean.”

De Niro’s Al Capone appeared opposite Connery’s Jimmy Malone, the role for which the late actor would win his first and only Oscar a year later. Though De Niro kept his tribute off of social media, Costner shared fond memories with his followers.

In a tweet posted Saturday, the Yellowstone actor remembered Connery for his personality and his impressive body of work, both on and off screen.

“And although he was a very no-nonsense person, he was incredibly inclusive with me professionally and personally. He was the biggest star that I ever worked with and I will be forever grateful to be linked with him on film,” Costner wrote. “Sean Connery was a man’s man who had an amazing career.”

Among the Hollywood stars and industry members also paying tribute to Connery were his The Hunt for Red October co-star Alec Baldwin, Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan, Hugh Jackman and more.

Connery died Saturday. He was 90 years old.

Kim Kardashian Goes All Out for Halloween After Transforming Her House Into a Giant Spider - Yahoo Entertainment

Arachnophobes, avert your eyes!

On Oct. 31, Kim Kardashian revealed her Calabasas home's Halloween look, and it is downright frightening. The reality star had her house transformed into a giant pink spider, complete with halls covered in white spider webs with spooky red lights.

Kim, who tends to prefer a minimalist vibe for her home on normal days, toured fans around her spooky new house on her Instagram Reels. The mogul showed off the many pieces of spider decor in her house including a giant projection screen that showed arachnoids running amuck.

Kim also showed off animatronic (at least, we hope they're animatronic!) tarantulas moving up and down from the ceiling. However, perhaps the most disturbing thing in the Kardashian-West Halloween house was the room with a giant spider just waiting in the center.

How exactly Kim and her family are able to sleep in this house knowing there are so many creepy crawly things on display is unclear.

Kim Kardashian's 40th Birthday Trip

It seems that Kim and her family is taking the Halloween season extremely seriously this year.

Earlier this October, Khloe Kardashian was spotted painting pumpkins with her daughter True Thompson and True's dad Tristan Thompson.

Kylie Jenner also got in on the Halloween action, decorating her house with plenty of creepy decor and candy bowls.

This week, Kylie and sister Kendall Jenner even showed off their recreation of their favorite Halloween costumes from childhood.

As for Kim, her family took a break from spiders to focus on tigers. They dressed up like characters from Netflix's wild documentary series Tiger King. Kim portrayed Dancing With the Stars contestant and wildlife rescue owner Carole Baskin, while her longtime best friend Jonathan "Foodgod" Cheban donned blonde facial hair to play Carole's number one enemy Joe Exotic. Kim's four kids North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm dressed up as adorable tiger cubs.

Jamie Lee Curtis Hosts Halloween Costume Parade Featuring Judy Greer, Andi Matichak and Plenty of Fan Engageme - Hollywood Reporter

Judy Greer followed suit, dressed up as World Series champ and L.A. Dodgers player Justin Turner.  Greer starred as Karen Nelson, the daughter of Laurie Strode, in the 2018 horror sequel film Halloween. Andi Matichak — who starred as the granddaughter of Laurie Strode, Allyson Nelson, in the sequel — also appeared in the parade as a Halloween superfan.

All day long on Saturday, Curtis's Instagram story was full of submissions, with people dressed up as Michael Myers, villains from Scream, Edward Scissorhands, spooky witches and more.

The actor is already synonymous with the spooky holiday thanks to her work as Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise, which this week unveiled a new trailer for the next installment, Halloween Kills.

The film from director David Gordon Green hits theaters in October 2021, with Halloween Ends coming a year later via Universal and Blumhouse. The franchise also this week unveiled an upcoming graphic novel, The Legend of Halloween, which is based on the original Halloween screenplay from John Carpenter and Debra Hill and written by Green and illustrated by Onur Tukel.

Kelly Ripa Cropped Mark Consuelos' Bulge Out Of Their Halloween Photos, And I'm Dead - BuzzFeed

"All trick, no treat."

The daytime talk show host is known for sharing thirst traps of her husband, actor Mark Consuelos, on Instagram.

Mark also weighed in on what I'd like to call #bulgegate, claiming that it was, "definitely a shadow" causing the bulging effect.

Kelly Ripa / Via Instagram: @kellyripa

Kelly, however, was not buying it. "Ummmmm, baby are you seeing shadows?" she replied. Ah, we love a couple that can rib each other.

Anyway, today, Kelly decided to share more Halloween photos, but this time she cropped Mark's — ahem — package from the post.

"A costumed how it started, how it’s going, and I cropped at the crotch you thirst buckets," she wrote. "All trick, no treat. #Halloween2020 đŸ‘»đŸŽƒđŸŠ‡đŸ•žđŸŠ‰đŸ’€."

So for all you thirst buckets out there, better luck next year!

Kim Kardashian gives a tour of her home decked out for Halloween with a TARANTULA on of her house - Daily Mail

Kim Kardashian gives a tour of her home decked out for Halloween with a giant TARANTULA on top of her house: 'A full spiderweb experience'

In spite of Halloween being 'canceled' this year, Kim Kardashian still went all out for the witchy festival this weekend in terms of decorating her lavish mansion.

The reality superstar, who turned 40 last week, gave her 190m followers on Instagram a tour of her home on Saturday, starting off with the most impressive feature – a gargantuan tarantula that sat on top of her house, just over the main entranceway.

As she approached the hideous-looking pink insect, Kim talked about how even though this year's holiday festivities had to be curtailed somewhat, it was important to her to keep things 'festive' 'for the kids.'

The mother-of-four also admitted that understandably, 'it's kind of my biggest nightmare to have a giant tarantula on my house.'

Then, Kim showed how virtually every inch of her home and its hallways were covered in spiderwebs, creating 'a full spiderweb experience' as she coined it.

The lighting was red, and there was eerie music and sound effects emanating from the corridors.

Soon, she made a turn toward one room, and announced 'we transformed our library into a trampoline room!'

One of her children was seen in the space, happily jumping up and down.

Then, the eldest Kardashian sister continued exploring the space, which continued with the arachnid theme – the eight legged insects hung everywhere, over tables and in the hallways, sometimes moving up and down on filaments all on their own.

'The Mandalorian' Season 2 Premiere Questions, Easter Eggs - TVLine

Thank the Force! The Mandalorian returned with Season 2 on Friday, a full 10 months after its freshman finale landed on Disney+. And with it came some questions.

Chapter 9 aka “The Marshal,” fully recapped here, revolved around the titular Mando (played  by Pedro Pascal) teaming with Cobb Vanth (Justified‘s Timothy Olyphant) — the self-appointed, Boba Fett’s armor-wearing lawman of a Tatooine town — and a local band of Tusken raiders to vanquish a Krayt dragon. Once that bit of pest control was tended to, Mando and the Child resumed their quest, as a familiar figure looked on….

Here are some of the questions that I and others had coming out of the premiere –keeping in mind that my own Star Wars consumption never ventured much further than the movies and a few EU novels).

Was Peli Mott’s R5 unit the same droid from Episode IV: A New Hope?
Yes, as TVLine reader Playhouse was quick to comment on our recap, that was the same R5-D4 that Luke Skywalker’s uncle nearly bought from the Jawas — but when it malfunctioned, C3PO nudged the farmer to go with R2-D2 instead.

Has Mando’s POV on droids changed?
It appears so, given how he OK’d Peli Mott’s trio to give the Razor Crest a once-over — possibly because of how IG-11 helped out in so many ways in the finale?

Have we seen a Krayt dragon before?
Live-action, and in the flesh? No. But we did see the skeletal remains of one in Episode IV: A New Hope, shortly before C3PO was “rescued” on Tatooine by the Jawas’ Sandcrawler.

Why did Cobb Vanth’s landspeeder look a bit familiar?
Because it seems to be driven be a single engine that is very much in the vein of young Anakin Skywalker’s custom-made podracer from whatever Episode I was called — which makes sense, since that sequence of course took place on Tatooine as well.

Was the Krayt dragon’s cave the Sarlacc pit (from Revenge of the Jedi)?
Ha, that’d be quite a coinky dink. And as was indicated, there are many Sarlacc pits. I  think if they wanted us to think/know it was the same one from Return of the Jedi, into which Boba  Fett eventually “fatally” plunged, they would have hammered us on the head a lot more with, like, a flyover shot hinting at its familiar mouth.

Mandalorian 2x01What was the sphere the Tusken triumphantly fished out of the dragon’s remains?
As we saw, when a Krayt dragon rises up for a big chomp of something, he gobbles a lot of dirt and rocks along the way. The bigger rocks that don’t get digested instead tumble and rumble around in its stomach, slowly but surely polished to a high gloss. In Star Wars lore, such a pearl has considerable value, rare as they are to be taken from a slayed Krayt dragon. (They can sometimes also contain fragments of Kyber crystals, as in those that power a lightsaber.)

Mandalorian 2x01What did Cobb Vanth mean by pointing out upon returning his armor, “You tell your people I wasn’t one who broke that”?
He was specifically pointing at the jet pack, clearly alluding to when a “blind” Han Solo in Return of the Jedi unwittingly jabbed Boba Fett in the back with a stick, igniting (and apparently damaging) the jet pack unit.

Mandalorian Boba FettWas that definitely Boba Fett at the end?
It’s very, very likely, much as some may deem it sacrilege to retcon the character’s grisly death by a thousand years of slow digestion. It’s no small leap to accept that once Boba Fett somehow cheated that fate, he would stick around that same desert planet and maybe even keep close to Cobb Vanth, the one who wound up in possession of his armor. (Plus, this particular Jango Fett clone was allowed to age normally, so his older appearance — played as he is by Temuera Morrison of 2002’s Attack of the Clones — makes sense.) But will Boba now stay on Mando’s heels? We shall see.

What exactly is the plan to locate the Child’s kind?
Though Mando said that finding another Mandalorian will let him “chart a path “ through their “network of coverts,” it’s unclear at this point how that will help lead him to Baby Yoda’s kind — unless the idea is to find someone well versed in Mandalore the Great who might have a bead on other Jedi.

Was “The Marshal” the longest episode of The Mandalorian thus far?
Yes, whether counting by total running time (52 minutes, minus recap) or actual content (47 minutes, also subtracting the closing credits) — besting the record set by the first season finale.

Is Baby Yoda still cute?
Do both suns sometime shine on a womp rat’s tail?

You’re Not Hearing Things, Some Apple AirPods Pro Have Static and Crackling Issues - Gizmodo

Apple launched a service program for AirPods Pro with crackling and static issues, among others.

Photo: Adam Clark Estes

If you’ve been hearing static or crackling sounds on your AirPods Pro, rest assured: You are sane. The sound issues are actually an Apple problem, and the company wants to fix them for you for free.

Apple launched a service program on Friday for AirPods Pro manufactured before October 2020. According to Apple, users with affected devices may hear crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, while exercising or while talking on the phone. Besides that issue, some AirPods Pro may have problems with active noise cancellation not working as expected, which can result in problems such as the loss of bass sound.

Other issues include an increase in background sounds, such as airplane or street noise.

Users that experience one or more of the above problems can get in touch with Apple or Apple-authorized service providers to get their device examined. If Apple or the service provider determines that the devices are eligible for the service program, the AirPods Pro will be replaced. The program covers one or both earbuds.

However, although the earbuds will be replaced, the AirPods Pro case is not affected by sound issues and is not covered by the service program.

Apple did not specify what might be causing the sound problems, although some have speculated that it’s a hardware issue. Users have been complaining about the issue for months. In May, Apple posted some troubleshooting advice on its website for people experiencing static and crackling sounds, which assumed that the problems were due to wireless interference or specific apps. We now know that was not the case.

Considering that the AirPods Pro are not exactly cheap ($250), I’m glad users that experience this will be able to get these issues fixed. (I’ve experienced crackling, though not with the AirPods Pro, and it’s always made me fear my headphones would explode). Apple’s new service program covers devices worldwide, and covers affected AirPods Pro for two years after purchase.

Watch A Driverless Roborace Race Car Hilariously Plow Itself Into Wall In First Live Broadcast Of The Series - CarScoops

Autonomous cars may be our future, but not many enthusiasts are excited by the prospect of watching driverless race cars go round a circuit.

That’s mainly because taking human skills and error out of racing equates to turning motorsport into a “sanitized” discipline where there’s very little room for unpredictability. In plain English, autonomous car racing is boring to watch. Unless of course you take into account this accident involving a Roborace self-driving vehicle.

It happened right at the start of the Season Beta 1.1 race when Roborace team SIT Acronis Autonomous’ self-driving car decided to drive straight into a wall instead of following the track.
Footage shows that the AI controlling the autonomous racer “decided” to steer it to the right immediately after the start, plowing into the pit wall.

See Also: Roborace Unveils Its (Almost) Fully-Autonomous DevBot 2.0 Racing Prototypes

It’s not clear what led to the mishap, but in all likelihood it must have been caused by a glitch. Mind you, this wasn’t the only incident, as Autonomous Racing Graz’s car reportedly had positioning issues that led to it getting “lost” on the track, abandoning the race as a result.

Anyway, these incidents highlight the challenges of unleashing AI on a real race track. Unlike autonomous cars that are “taught” to drive on public roads, robotic racers run at far greater speeds and therefore have less room for error. They also have less time to react to hazards and make good calls.

Sean Connery, most famous for his portrayal of James Bond, has died at the age of 90, his family said Saturday. The actor, who played 007 in seven movies starting with 1962's Dr. No, died in his sleep in the Bahamas. The actor had been "unwell for some time," his son Jason told the BBC.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Connery had an acting career that spanned decades and included multiple award-winning performances. He won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his work in The Untouchables in 1988 and won three Golden Globes. He also starred opposite Harrison Ford in 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, in which he played Jones' father.

Connery was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. He largely retired from acting that decade, but he played Bond one last time through voice-over in the 2005 video game adaptation of From Russia With Love. His final role was a voiceover in the 2012 Scottish animated movie Sir Billi.

Over the years, he appeared in dozens of films, working with directors from Alfred Hitchcock and John Huston to Steven Spielberg and Brian De Palma. In his pre-Bond work, he was probably best known for a Disney film about leprechauns, 1959's Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

It was his appearance in Dr. No, the first big-screen adaptation of one of Ian Fleming's James Bond novels, that catapulted Connery into superstardom. He followed that up in quick succession with From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, over a span of five years. He stepped away from the role, ceding the 007 title to George Lazenby for one film, then returned in 1971's Diamonds Are Forever.

Connery made one more comeback as Bond, starring in 1983's Never Say Never Again (a reworking of Thunderball), which is said to have taken its name from Connery's earlier opposition to returning to the role, and then relenting.

Though other notable actors, including Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, have played James Bond, Connery has been widely considered to be the definitive 007. He brought a distinctive mix of suave sophistication and steely brutality to the role, with his performances becoming the measuring stick by which his successors have been judged.

In his later years, he turned in performances that were nearly as iconic. Often bearded where Bond was clean-shaven, but sometimes nearly as physical as the British secret agent, he brought both authority and wit to films including The Name of the Rose, The Untouchables, The Hunt for Red October and The Rock, along with his turn in the Indiana Jones series.

Tributes to Connery

Many paid homage to the actor online, including the current James Bond, Daniel Craig, who called Connery "one of the true greats of cinema."

Also offering condolences was another Bond actor, George Lazenby, who was the first to step into the role after Connery's huge success. He noted that "Sean Connery as James Bond inspired me personally but seems to have encapsulated an age."

"Every day on set with Sean Connery was an object lesson in how to act on screen," said Sam Neill, who starred alongside Connery in 1990's The Hunt for Red October. "But all that charisma and power -- that was utterly unique to Sean."

"I was heartbroken to learn this morning of the passing of Sir Sean Connery," said Nicola Sturgeon, the first minister of Scotland. "Our nation today mourns one of her best loved sons."

Roger Moore, the actor who succeeded Connery in the Bond role with 1973's Live and Let Diedied in 2017.

A representative of Connery didn't respond to a request for comment.
