Black Friday is no longer just one day of savings, meaning you can save on a laptop throughout November. Due to an ongoing laptop shortage, some of the best deals at the moment are on affordable laptops with fairly small discounts, but there are larger deals to be had too, like Dell’s Vostro 15 7500 for $1,000 off.

In spite of the shortage, this year’s deals are arguably even better than what we saw last year. In addition to the performance and improved features that comes from having newer hardware, prices are in general lower with AMD Ryzen 5-series notebooks priced lower than their prior year counterparts. These prices, along with the increased number of people working and taking classes from home, makes now a good time to invest in a new laptop.
Prices are likely to change throughout the month and some systems may sell out, so if you see a system that’s right for you, buy it now before someone else beats you to it.
Chromebooks and Budget Laptops
14-Inch Lenovo Chromebook S330
This notebook was built with a MediaTek MT8173 SoC that has two Cortex-A72 processor cores and two Cortex-A53 cores along with a PowerVR GX6250 iGPU. Utilizing this chip enabled Lenovo to also add 4GB of RAM to this 32GB notebook without pushing the price up too high, but it should also be among the slowest Chromebooks on the market with performance roughly on par with a low-end smartphone.
Acer Chromebook Spin 311
Acer designed this Intel Celeron-based Chromebook to be a convertible laptop, which means the display can rotate around 180 degrees to be used as a tablet. The system also has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM to help keep it from slowing down, and it can also reportedly last up to 10 hours on a single charge.
Acer Aspire 5
Acer’s affordable AMD Ryzen 3-based Aspire 5 gives you the performance you need for day-to-day tasks such as web browsing and word processing for just $364.99. Its 15.6-inch 1080p display is easy on the eyes, a backlit keyboard allows for typing in the dark, and its battery can last up to 7.5 hours.
Dell and Alienware Laptops
Dell Inspiron 15 5000
Dell designed this modern 15.6-inch laptop with one of Intel's new Core i7-1165G7 processors, which has four CPU cores and Intel’s just released Intel Iris Xe iGPU. This enables the CPU to perform most tasks relatively quickly and even gives it enough power to run some games with low graphics settings. The notebook also features an LED-backlit keyboard, which makes the system look cool as well as being useful while typing in the dark. There's 12GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Dell Vostro 14 5402
This aluminum-clad 14-inch notebook comes equipped with one of Intel’s recently released Core i7-1165G7 processors. The CPU portion of this chip is fairly average with four Hyper-Threaded cores, but the processor also has a relatively powerful integrated graphics solution that can play games with low settings and even handle some games with medium graphics settings enabled. There's 8GB DDR4 RAM and a 256GB NVMe SSD.
Dell Vostro 15 7500
The new Vostro 15 7500 laptop is a true jack-of-all-trades. Dell’s Vostro systems are oriented as business solutions, and this system is no different, but it also has fairly strong gaming capabilities. Its 100 percent sRGB 15.6-inch display is also well suited for editing images. No matter what you need a laptop for, this system should fit the bill. It runs an Intel Core i7-10750H processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU; there's 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD.
Alienware m15 R3
If you want a fast notebook with plenty of performance for running the latest games, you may want to consider Dell's Alienware M15 R3. This system was built for gaming and features a six-core processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 GPU, and an incredibly fast 300Hz 15.6-inch display. Dell also tossed a 1TB NVMe SSD on this drive.
Laptops From Lenovo, Asus, and More
Asus ZenBook 14
Asus designed this notebook to be exceedingly thin and light weighing just 2.78 pounds and measuring a mere 0.56 inches thick. The system is also well-rounded with a fast AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processor, 16GB of RAM and a large 1TB NVMe SSD. The computer’s too narrow to support a conventional number pad, but Asus designed its touchpad in a way that enables it to be used as a number pad.
Lenovo Yoga C940
Lenovo’s versatile Yoga C940 laptop is just 0.6 inches thick and weighs in at just 2.98 pounds. The system is encased in a lightweight metal shell and features a 14-inch 1080p touch display along with a fast Intel Core i7 processor and 12GB of RAM.
